On Sunday, August 3rd 2008, beginning at 2pm, the Inner Harbour will become an outdoor concert stage, with children’s activities, local food vendors, and live music. The 19th annual Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash spectacular finale of the evening will feature Maestra Tania Miller leading the Victoria Symphony and a host of special guests.
Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash is the largest annual symphony event in North America, attracting up to 40,000 Victoria residents and visitors. The unique setting for the performance is on a barge moored in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, in front of the picturesque Provincial Legislature.
Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash appeals to audiences of all ages; the music performed is a mix of classical and popular selections, and a talented young soloist is featured each year with the assistance of the Leslie and Murray Glazier Young Musicians Fund. The concert concludes with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with bells, cannons and fireworks.

The lucky winner and a friend will have the Best Seats in the Harbour for the Victoria Symphony performance from two LaZyboy recliners set up on Belleville Street at Splash on August 3. They will also win a $2,500 gift certificate for LaZboy Furniture Galleries. Entries will be accepted from 2pm until 5:30pm. The winner will be announced from the barge at 6pm.

What is Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash?
Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash is an annual Victoria Symphony event that takes place on a floating stage moored in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. It includes musical entertainment, food, souvenirs and the evening’s highlight—a live performance by the Victoria Symphony. Splash is now one of the largest annual symphony events in North America, attracting up to 40,000 Victoria residents and visitors. Over 300 volunteers help to bring the event to the community.
What kind of music does the orchestra play?
The music performed is a mix of classical and popular selections, and a talented young soloist is featured each year. The concert concludes with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with bells, cannons, and fireworks. As 2008 is BC's 150 anniversary, this year's program will feature pieces inspired by BC's history, from native singers and dancers to pieces written 150 years ago and a Word Premiere by local composer Tobin Stokes.
What time does Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash begin?
The orchestra performs at 7:30 pm, although many people arrive early to ensure they have a good view of the barge.splash Kids Zone (instrument petting zoo, face-painting and fun tattoos) begins at 2pm. opening acts begin at 4pm.

What is the admission?
Admission is by a $5 donation. This open air event is not possible without public donations - please give generously. You’ll find volunteers with donation buckets roaming the crowds or you can track down one of our donation barrels. All proceeds go to support the Victoria Symphony. What should I bring?
You may want to bring a folding chair, or blanket if you plan to sit on the Legislature lawn. If you do bring a chair, please observe all posted signs and roped-off areas. The wind off the water can be chilly after sunset, so bring a sweater or wrap. Bring a travel mug and plate to lessen the impact on site.
What amenities are available?
Food and beverage vendors are located on Government Street next to The Royal BC Museum. A percentage of the sales is donated to the Victoria Symphony. Portable washrooms are located in easily identified areas and St. John’s Ambulance staffs several first-aid stations.
What should I do if I have a physical disability?
We've reserved a special area in front of the Fairmont Empress Hotel
for people using wheelchairs. For more information visit www.accesstown.com
Is it possible to come by boat?
Yes! Small craft owners (kayakers, canoeists) can moor their craft near the
barge to listen to the music from the water. The Harbour Master will let you
know if your watercraft is too close to the barge.

The “Splash Grandstand” features tiered bench seating that will be set up in front of the large sequoia tree in front of the Legislature. This location will provide a spectacular and unimpeded view of the event for ticket-holders without jeopardizing sight-lines for audience members who choose to sit on the lawns. Tickets for the “Splash Grandstand” are on sale now for $75 with a $50 tax receipt, and can be purchased by phoning 250.385.6515.
